101 in 1001 Update - September 2017

Is it just me or is time literally flying by? I was honestly shocked when I looked in my planner and saw that it was already time to update my 101 in 1001 list again. I've really started feeling better since developing a cough that just won't go away - it's just a lingering annoyance now, instead of the painful and debilitating problem it was. Now that I'm feeling much more energetic, I've been able to get back to focusing on my various to-do lists and to actually get things done. I have managed to successfully cross off 7 more items on my 101 list and like always, have been working towards many of the other loftier goals.

101 in 1001

As of September 29, 2017:
Completed:  14/101
In Progress: 14/101

The following are the items I've completed or made progress on since last updating the list, with an overall total of all the items I've completed or have in progress to date for each category. You can see my full (and updated) list right here!

Life

2. Organize my apartment and belongings

I moved progressively throughout the month of August as I was downsizing from a one-bedroom to a bachelor apartment and that meant that I stayed relatively organized throughout the progress. That did also mean, however, that towards the end of the month, I realized I had very little time or space in my new place left and quickly stuffed things into boxes and shoved them into my new apartment. Not super organized. I have, however, since the end of August, managed to unpack everything, find everything a new home within my home, and can happily cross this item off my list.

Money

18. Create a budget

I have created a budget. It is a work in progress at the moment, and it will need some updates and fine tuning as I go, but it's a start that I'm hoping will help me to take control of my finances. And it is more of a thoughtfully created budget that actually exists than anything else I've ever had for dealing with my finances, so I'm counting it as a win and crossing this item off my list (though this will by no means be the last time I edit my budget).

I'm also not putting my "stick to budget for one month" item as in progress yet because I literally made the budget yesterday and everything is over for this month (hello moving expenses, etc.) and is going to reset on Sunday. Next month though!

Knowledge

27. Read 75 books (06/75)

I read The Women in the Castle by Jessica Shattuck and The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson. Both were phenomenal and I will definitely be writing reviews for each in the upcoming weeks.

28. Write a book review for each book read

I finished reading Goodnight from London last month, but was finally able to write and publish a review on here! (I'm definitely going to work towards catching up on those reviews!).

Fitness/ Health

37. Lose 5 lbs
38. Lose 10 lbs

I am not at all sure how this happened, but since the middle of June, I have lost just over 10 lbs. I went a while without weighing myself, because even though it is definitely a goal of mine to lose weight, feeling healthy and being active is definitely the priority and larger goal. Then when I first weighed myself at the beginning of the month, I thought there had to be a mistake with my scale so I ignored it. But then I went shopping for some new pants and noticed that I had to shop a size down, so I weighed myself again earlier this week and found that I had surpassed that 5 lbs goal and went right past the 10 lbs mark as well. I'm definitely not complaining about it at all!

51. Reach 90-day streak on Headspace

I was so close to this mark last month, and successfully passed it!

52. Reach 180-day streak on Headspace

This goal will take a little while to reach, but I am happily working towards it.

Tech

58. Clean up and reorganize iPad

If I'm being honest, actually doing this was largely prompted by the failing of my MacBook, which completely died and had to be recycled, and by the slow falling apart of my PC laptop, which still thankfully works but is actually breaking in half. I've been, therefore, using my iPad a lot more frequently so overhauling all the apps and reorganizing them was necessary.

Fun

83. Try five new wines (1/5)

I picked up a bottle of Henry of Pelham Rosé because it was on display at the front of the LCBO when I went in and it was quite enjoyable.

85. Take a selfie on the first of each month to see how things change over time (3/33)

87. Watch all movies on the IMDB Top 250 list (65/250)

I watched Dunkirk this month. It was definitely an emotional and powerful film, but extremely well done and I would recommend it to fans of films like Saving Private Ryan

88. Finish watching all of Law and Order

I'm still working my way through and have made it almost to the end of season 14!

1/30 Completed

Blog

90. Post 300 blog posts (018/300)

I've added 4 new blog posts since my last update, including, of course, my last update. The other posts included my September Goals, my review of Goodnight from London, and my latest empty beauty products.

91. Set 5 goals a month for a year (2/12)

I shared my Spetember goals, putting myself a quarter of the way through this goal!

Finally

96. Write a letter to be open on day 1001

I actually completed this earlier this week and scheduled it as an open letter to be published automatically on day 1001, right here on this blog. Hopefully I'm still around at this address then.

97. Update this list once a month (03/33)

100. Put $10 into savings for every item checked off (014/101)
