November Goals

Each month I list out my goals for the upcoming month and reflect on how I did the previous month. Read on to see how I did with my goals in October and what I'm planning for November.

October Goals Revisited

1. Run 15 miles.

Suffice it to say that this goal was a very large fail. 

2. Read 3 books.

This past month I just squeezed in 3 books, finishing up The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen, Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht, and Women in Science by Rachel Ignotofsky. I was reading them concurrently and made a push towards the end of the month to finish them up (and meet this goal!) so I haven't had the chance to review them as of yet, but look forward to those posts in November.

3. Take a multivitamin every day.

Another large fail. I maybe made it through 3 days. Maybe. 

4. Stick to my grocery budget.

I did not do this... though I think I was a little more conscious of my overspending.... 

5. Reach at least 10,000 steps every day.

I only managed to reach the 10,000 steps mark 17 days out of 31 during the month of October. Not great.

6. Try a new recipe.

I tried these broccoli tots that I found on Pinterest and they were delicious and super easy to make! (mine did not actually look like the perfectly tot-like ones in the picture - but they tasted great)

7. Write at least 5 blog posts.

I wrote and shared 7 posts this past month, which is a lovely increase from the previous couple of months. I'm going to do my best to continue posting with regularity, but I never want to just post something to post something.

8. Visit a museum.

I actually visited 2 museums. I visited the Canadian Museum of History to check out the new Canadian History Hall, which I wrote about here, and I also checked out the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic while in Halifax visiting family. 

9. Continue meditating daily.

With the continued help of the Headspace app, I completed this goal. There were a few more days where I opted for the "minis" (short 1-3 minute sessions) than I wish, but I did some form of pausing each day. 

10. Catch up on my book reviews.

It doesn't really feel like I caught up because I now have three more reviews looming over my head, but I swear I did. I just finished my most recently read books so recently that I haven't had a chance to write reviews for them. But I would never expect myself to have completed a review within 3 days of finishing a book, let alone 3 books, so they don't count and this goal counts as completed.

I made the mistake of having too many lofty goals this past month. Too many goals that once you miss a day or fall a little off the wagon, you're toast. With that being said, I actually did a lot better than I thought I had done with 6/10 goals completed. That brings my total of goals achieved so far this year up to 16/29, which is 55% and on track with my 101 in 1001 goal of completing 50% of them.


November Goals

1. Read 3 books

2. Journal everyday

3. Track all spending

4. Maintain a cleaning schedule

5. Don't watch Netflix past 9:30pm
